Abstract

Covid-19 entered Indonesia in early March 2020, then became a pandemic. Islamic boarding schools as Islamic religious educational institutions that carry out activities and learning in the same environment with the capacity of students who experience a lot of shock and anxiety about Covid-19. In March 2020, students were closed for two weeks and sent home entirely. However, in June the Minister recommended returning to direct learning, mainly because it has entered the new academic year 2020/2021, and will start learning in August 2020. It is feared that parents and students will become the latest cluster in Covid-19. This research uses a type of qualitative research with a case study approach. The informant selection technique uses purposive sampling, meaning the selection of informants based on special characteristics which is then collected data by observation, interview and document techniques. The informants in this study consisted of 9 informants, including four main informants (santri), four key informants namely the head of the Islamic boarding school, teachers, and administrators of the boarding school and one supporting informant, namely the foundation security guard. Validation tests use source and theory triangulation techniques. The results showed that the form of policy implemented by Islamic boarding schools was divided into two, namely written and unwritten policies. Policy implementation is not perfect and has several obstacles, but students understand that implementing existing policies can reduce anxiety and can live daily life and learning safely and comfortably. The social impact of the pandemic has not changed many things, social interaction and etiquette of manners continue to run well. Although there are differences in social interaction, namely the absence of shaking hands with both fellow students and teachers with students.
