Abstract

Permenristekdikti Nomor 44 Tahun 2015 said undergraduate students S1 can complete education for 4 years. However, based on data obtained from Science Education Program there are students who complete the final project more than 8 semesters. Based on these problems, this study aims to analyze the constrains faced by students of Science Education Semarang State University in completing the final project. The form of this research is descriptive qualitative with respondents are students of science education program 2010- 2013. Research procedures include: data collection of prospective respondents, instrument compilation, instrument validation, instrument revision, data retrieval, and data analysis. Result of research from 24 respondents show that internal constraints include physical condition 22,92%, academic problem 33,65%, less motivation 17,50% and problem controlling emotion 52,30%. External constraints include: natural environment 29.17%, social environment 40.63%, pre research 40.63%, research process 26.39%, post research 59.70%, guidance quality 24.48% and reference 29.16 %. It was concluded that the dominant constraints faced by students of Science education are emotional control issues (internal) and difficult post-research stage (external). Permenristekdikti Nomor 44 Tahun 2015 menyebutkan mahasiswa jenjang sarjana S1 dapat menyelesaikan pendidikan selama 4 tahun. Namun berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dari Prodi IPA terdapat mahasiswa yang menyelesaikan tugas akhir lebih dari 8 semester. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kendala yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa Pendidikan IPA Universitas Negeri Semarang dalam menyelesaikan tugas akhir. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan responden adalah mahasiswa Pendidikan IPA angkatan 2010-2013. Prosedur penelitian meliputi: pengumpulan data calon responden, penyusunan instrumen, validasi instrumen, revisi instrumen, pengambilan data, dan menganalisis data. Hasil penelitian dari 24 responden menunjukkan bahwa kendala internal meliputi kondisi fisik 22,92%, permasalahan akademik 33,65%, kurang motivasi 17,50% dan permasalahan mengendalikan emosi 52,30%. Kendala eksternal meliputi: lingkungan alam 29,17%, lingkungan sosial 40,63%, pra penelitian 40,63%, proses penelitian 26,39%, pasca penelitian 59,70%, kualitas bimbingan 24,48% dan referensi 29,16%. Disimpulkan bahwa kendala yang dominan dihadapi mahasiswa Pendidikan IPA adalah permasalahan pengendalian emosi (internal) dan kesulitan tahap pasca penelitian (eksternal).
