Abstract

Rapid technological developments greatly affect the use of technology in the learning process. In utilizing technology, it is used to solve the low reading ability of elemntary school students through tve application of AKM (Assessment Competency Minimum). Effective literacy learning can shape and enhance student learning independence. Students’ reading literacy skills are said to increase if they meet reading literacy indicators such as being able to retrieve information, being able to form a broad understanding, being able to develop interpretations, being able to reflect and evaluate text content, and being able to reflect and evaluate tve form of texts. Local wisdom based e-book media through the use of technology as a media solution to increase reading literacy of elemntary school students. This study aims to: (1) Describe and analyze the development of local wisdom based e-bookmedia to increase elementary school students’ reading literacy, (2) Analyze the validity and feasibility of developing local wisdom based e-book media to increase elementary school students’ reading literacy, (3) Analyze the effectiveness of local wisdom based e-book media development to increase elementary school students’ reading literacy, and (4) Analyze student responses in developing local wisdom based e-book media to improve elementary school students’ reading literacy. The result showed that (1) The development of e-book media based on local wisdom to increase reading literacy has characteristics according to the needs of elementary school students, (2) The e-book media based on local wisdom was declared valid based on the results of the validity of material experts with an acquisition of 96% with the criteria are very good, based on the result of the validity of the media expert obtaining 87,64% with very good criteria, and the media feasibility test based on educator responses obtains an average of 95% with very good criteria. (3) The effectiveness of local wisdom based e-book media is efectively used to increase elementary students’ reading literacy based on the N-Gain results reaching 0,644 in the sufficient category, (4) The results of students’ responses to the use of local wisdom based e-book media are stated to be usable well so that it can help to improve elementary students’ reading literacy with evidence that the results of students responses reach an average of 94% with very good criteria. Suggestions thaat researchers can convey regarding the research results are for schools, for educators, and for students. For schools, they should focus on preparing students for literacy activities, utulizing facilities and infrastructure that can make it easier for strudents to improve their reading literacy anytime and anywhare. For educators, it is hoped that they can add scientific knowledge to community activities in accordance with learning materials and literacy activities related to local wisdom. For students, they can learn and understand e-book media as a medium to improve reading literacy skills and can be applied to everyday life.
