Abstract
The existence of historical sites close to the student's environment is a potential that can be used as a social studies learning resource. Based on the government's National Literacy Movement program, teachers try to implement literacy-based learning in social studies learning. This study aims to find out the strategy for utilizing the Petungkriyono historical site in social studies learning to increase local history literacy, as well as the obstacles encountered in utilizing the Petungkriyono historical heritage site in social studies learning to increase local history literacy at SMP Negeri 1 Petungkriyono.. The research method used is a qualitative method. Sources of research data come from primary data sources and secondary data. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. Test the validity of research data using source triangulation techniques. Data analysis used interactive analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The results of the study show that social studies learning by utilizing local historical heritage sites as learning resources aims to create contextual learning and emphasize students' literacy skills in social studies learning. The planning, implementation and evaluation stages are inseparable from the utilization of local historical sites including the Gedong site and the Nagapertala site in Petungkriyono. Obstacles found by teachers in utilizing the Petungkriyono historical heritage site in literacy-based social studies learning at the planning, implementation and evaluation stages. The planning stage is in the form of the teacher's ability which is still inadequate in compiling teaching modules, the implementation stage in the form of using learning methods, learning media and existing facilities and infrastructure at school, the technical evaluation stage of implementation does not experience much difficulty but the assessment shows results that are still relatively low for some learners.
