Abstract
In this era, technology and media are growing. The development of technology and media can be used in education and can be combined. Media technologies which can support in the learning process can be a smartphone, computer, etc, and it called mobile learning. This study used mobile learning in the form of smartphones/devices and Mobile Assisted Language Learning as tools in the form of an audio streaming application called Spotify. This study aims to explain the students perceive of Spotify as an independent learning medium in the language learning process. The resulting perceptions include the benefits and the challenges of Spotify as a supporting learning medium. The data is collected through a questionnaire on 32 students of Bilingual Class System at MAN 2 Kudus. The results obtained are students' perceptions of the benefits and challenges of Spotify as a supporting learning medium that are following existing research questions. The results show that the students’ have a positive perceptions on Spotify, so that they may use it as an independent learning medium.
