Abstract
This study aimed to describe the teacher’s perception and barriers in using Edmodo as a medium to teach reading comprehension of narrative text. This research was a qualitative case study that involved one English teacher of grade X at SMAN 1 Kaliwiro as a participant. The instruments used in this study were a questionnaire and an interview. The data were analyzed by using the qualitative analysis stages of Miles and Huberman (1994), which were data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings showed that Edmodo creates an attractive reading classroom, promotes lifelong learning, provides social interactions, and facilitates an auto-grading system. On the other hand, based on the teacher’s perception, the use of Edmodo in teaching reading comprehension of narrative texts has weaknesses. Edmodo requires a good internet connection to access it. The auto-grading system on this platform is also not available for all quiz types. Furthermore, Edmodo can cause bad health if used continuously along with other Internet uses.
