Abstract
This final project was a study about the use of code switching by the teachers during teaching and learning process at SMA Negeri 7 Cirebon. The objective of this study was to find out the form and the teachers perception about code switching whether it is positive or negative in teaching and learning process. This study used qualitative method which the data of the teacher perception about code switching were obtained from questionnaires, interview, and observation. This study shared questionnaires to 5 teachers, the question was open-ended question. Five English teachers at SMA Negeri 7 Cirebon were the participants in this study. The result of this study were (1) the form of code switching is usually spoken form but in this pandemic the teacher used written form and (2) for the perceptions of the teachers were the code switching is one of good methods in maintaining and explaining all the materials in the teaching and learning process. The teachers also found that code switching helped them to ease the communication outside the class. Code switching also helps the students to build their solidarity with the teachers.
