Abstract

Reading is one of the essential skills in English. The purpose of this study was to find out how the students' reading comprehension in recount text taught with and without using the Jigsaw technique through Jamboard Google, also how effective the jigsaw technique through Jamboard Google affects the students' reading comprehension of Ten Grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Ambarawa in the academic year of 2022/2023. The method used in this research was quantitative research. Meanwhile, this research was quasi-experiment. This research took two classes of ten grade students of Senior High School in the second semester, the experimental and control classes, to see the effectiveness of using the jigsaw technique through Jamboard Google by looking at the Pretest and the Post-test measurements and comparing the gained scores between both classes. This study indicated that the jigsaw technique significantly affects students' reading comprehension. In addition, this present study concludes that the Jigsaw technique is more interesting than the Grammar Translation method. In the jigsaw technique, the students can discuss and try to be an expert in explaining the material or the text to other students. Based on the findings and discussion, it can be concluded that the jigsaw technique through Jamboard Google is more effective than the Grammar Translation Method for teaching reading at the first-grade SMA Negeri 1 Ambarawa.
