Abstract

This study proposes to explain the implementation of nine values of Bumi Cendekia among teachers and students in the English language subject. This study employed qualitative research with a descriptive case study design. One English teacher, three morning English corner teachers, and all students from Bumi Cendekia Junior High School of Yogyakarta were involved as research participants. The data were gathered through classroom observation, semi�structured interviews, and document analysis. This study revealed that all teachers had a good knowledge of character education, especially for the concept and implementation of the nine values of Bumi Cendekia. They implemented those nine values of Bumi Cendekia using appropriate strategies and methods in an English language lesson's teaching and learning process. All the results aligned with the teachers' perceptions of the interview and the data from classroom observation. Although the teachers had exemplary performance, they still needed to work on implementing the nine values of character education together with English language subjects due to teachers' roles and students' motivation. Therefore, it was expected for further research to conduct more detailed research in a long time to collect more information about character education.
