Abstract

Debt policy is a policy taken by management in order to obtain a source of financing for the company so that it can be used to finance the company's operational activities. Funding decisions that are not considered properly will lead to financial difficulties and the threat of bankruptcy. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of managerial ownership, liquidity, profitability, and investment decisions on debt policy. The population in this study uses manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2018-2020 period with 144 units of analysis from 48 sample companies. The research sample was selected using purposive sampling method so that 94 units of company analysis were selected. The data analysis technique used in this study used multiple linear regression analysis. The analytical tool used in this research is IBM SPSS Version 23. The results of this study prove that liquidity has a significant negative effect on debt policy. Meanwhile, managerial ownership, profitability, and investment decisions have no significant effect on debt policy. The advice given for further research is to use variables other than variables that have been proven to have no effect in this study that can affect debt policy, including company size, asset structure and company growth.
