Abstract

Hedonistic behavior refers to attitudes that prioritize pleasure, spending time outside the home, playing more, and enjoying the hustle and bustle of the city solely for the sake of pleasure, which results in negative behavior. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of poetry appreciation on spiritual intelligence and hedonistic behavior. The population of this study comprises all students from public high schools in Semarang City. The sample for this research includes 390 respondents taken from 5 public high schools in Semarang City, selected using cluster random sampling. Data collection methods utilized scales that were adapted and developed, including the Attitudes to Beauty Scale (EBS), the Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory (SISRI-24), and the Female Hedonistic Behavior Questionnaire (FHBQ). Data analysis techniques employed path analysis through Hayes using SPSS Statistics 22 software. Research results show that poetry appreciation has a significant effect on spiritual intelligence with a path coefficient of (β = 0.662 and significant at p 0.000 < 0.05). Poetry appreciation has a substantial influence on hedonistic behavior with a path coefficient of (β = -1.603 and significant at p 0.000 < 0.05). Additionally, spiritual intelligence significantly affects Hedonistic Behavior with a path coefficient of (β = -0.814 and significant at p 0.000 < 0.05). Lastly, spiritual intelligence significantly mediates with a value of (β = -0.539; LLCI = -0.874; ULCI = -0.198; p < 0.05). Hence, it can be concluded that the independent variable significantly influences the dependent variable.
