Abstract

Bopong Beach Tourism Object is a fairly new tourist attraction in Kebumen Regency. As a new tourist attraction, it is not known exactly how geographical factors affect the tourism object and its development as well as the potential role of supporting factors for the development of tourism objects. So it is necessary to analyze the geographical potential to determine the condition of the Bopong Beach tourist attraction and the development of a tourist attraction viewed from geographical factors and development supporting factors. The purpose of this study is to determine the geographical factors that support and hinder as well as to analyze the efforts made in tourism development and provide tourism development strategies in Bopong Beach with reference to its potential. The population in this study were all tourism managers and lovers of Bopong Beach tourism. The samples used were the Head of Surorejan Village as the head of the Bopong Beach tourist attraction, BAPPEDA staff in the area of regional development and the Kebumen Regency Tourism Office who were in the field of tourism development, as many as 90 tourists. The sampling technique was the Area probability sample technique (regional sample) and incidental sampling. Research variables are geographic potential and tourism development. Data collection techniques are observation, documentation, questionnaires and interviews. The analytical technique used is quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the geographical factors that support the development of Bopong Beach tourism objects are location, slope, climate, flora and fauna, and water, while those that are less supportive are only soil factors. In addition, there are development supporting factors that support tourism development consisting of attractiveness with a score of 15, service facilities with a score of 17 and transportation with a score of 5 while for infrastructure which has a score of 8 and accommodation with a score of 8 are included in the moderate factor which means that it needs improvement and Improvements and efforts made for the development of Bopong Beach tourism currently have two major categories, namely the physical and non-physical sectors, the physical sector, namely Development, which includes the construction of facilities and infrastructure as well as tourist attractions in tourist attractions. Then for the non-physical sector, promotion is done. Suggestions from this research are to develop and optimize other potentials to add tourist attractions so that they can extend visiting time and the development carried out must be adjusted to the problems in the field so that the development of tourist objects can be maximized.
