Abstract

This study aims to find student‟s perceptions of Microsoft Teams as a medium of learning in English class at SMPN 12 Semarang. This research used a qualitative case study, which is a form of qualitative research based on human understanding and behavior based on human opinion. Subjects in research can be individuals, groups, institutions or communities. The participants of this study were eighth-grade students in SMP Negeri 12 Semarang in the academic year of 2022/2023. The researcher used questionnaires and Interview as instruments to collect the data. The findings showed that students of SMP Negeri 12 Semarang have a positive perception of using Microsoft Team as an online learning platform for English classroom. However, there are still some challenges that students faced, that is bad signal during online learning, different behavior when remote learning, feel more tired and pressure when used Microsoft Teams. Students believed that using Microsoft Teams is useful to help them in order to learn and teach during this pandemic because of it is easy to use and access. In addition, the students also had a positive attitude towards the use of Microsoft teams which replaced face-to-face classes during COVID-19. Students of SMP Negeri 12 Semarang also highly recommend to use of the Microsoft team as an online learning platform in the future because of it is convenience
