Abstract

What types and meanings of idiomatic expressions can be found in the lyrics of songs from the Beauty and the Beast movie. findings of this research will assist others in gaining a better understanding of the idiomatic expressions that can be found in the lyrics of songs from the movie Beauty and the Beast. i tried to analyze what of type, and elements that used in the song and also to find out the meaning of each idiomatic expression that found in the song. The following are the six categories that are used to categorize idiomatic expressions: simile, binomial, proverb, euphemism, cliché, and fixed statement. I presents the idiomatic phrase that can be found in songs from the Beauty and the Beast movies by displaying a lyric on every idiom that appears. There are 6 songs in particular that contain idiomatic language. From the six songs mention above there are, Belle there are 3 idiomatic expressions, Gaston there are 2 idiomatic expressions, Be Our Guest there are 3 idiomatic expressions, Evermore there are 2 idiomatic expressions, Aria there is 1 idiomatic expression, and How Does Moment Last Forever there are 2 idiomatic expressions
