Abstract
This research was motivated by learning conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic that occurred in early 2020. During the pandemic, learning was carried out with a distance learning system (PJJ). The purpose of this study is (1) To describe the process of utilizing telegram bots in class X social studies students of SMA Negeri 7 Semarang. (2) Knowing the results of learning geography of atmospheric dynamics material using telegram bot media in class X social studies students of SMA Negeri 7 Semarang. (3) Knowing the level of effectiveness of telegram bot media which includes learning outcomes, learning activities, and positive responses or responses of students in learning geography of atmospheric dynamics material in class X social studies SMA Negeri 7 Semarang. The population of this study consisted of class X social studies of SMA Negeri 7 semarang. The sample technique used is the rundown sampling technique. The type of research used is quantitative with an experimental method with a pre-post control group design. Implemented in class X X IPS 2 as the control class and X IPS 4 as the experimental class. The variables of this study are the implementation of learning using the telegram bot application and the effectiveness of the telegram bot application which includes the achievement of student learning completion, the achievement of student activities in learning, and positive student responses or responses to learning. Data collection techniques use tests, questionnaires, observations, and documentation. Data analysis techniques using percentage descriptive analysis and statistical analysis of independent sample t-test. The results showed that (1) The use of telegram bot applications in the X IPS 4 experimental class includes 3 stages, namely the learning planning stage, learning implementation, and learning assessment. In the learning implementation variable, a syllabus quality value of 88%, RPP of 86.67% and learning media of 88.09% were obtained by media expert lecturers and 81.90% by maple teachers. The learning implementation stage obtained an average score of learning activities of 67.5% (high) and an average score of responses of 78.83% (attractive). (2) Student learning outcomes in the experimental class obtained an average score of 82.17 while in the control class an average of 71.58 was obtained. (3) Analysis of the average difference test on learning outcomes in the experimental class and control class obtained a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05. This shows that there is a significant difference between the post-test value in the experimental class and the post-test value of the control class. Telegram bot applications can be developed by adjusting needs such as adding or improving the necessary features or adding materials or references. In addition, to improve learning outcomes, support from other aspects such as the ability of teachers to manage learning is needed.
