Abstract

Music can be instrumental, vocal, or both. Music harmonizes vocal arrangement, melody, rhythm, and tempo. One of the most important aspects in music is song lyrics. This study aimed to observe the English songs that potentially become a learning material of “Getting the Meaning of the song”. This study concerned with text analysis. The data of this study were songs that selected randomly by the respondents, which is students from grade X to XII. The findings showed that there are a lot of selected songs which mostly chosen by students. The criteria for determining the eligibility. Among them, messages according to adolescent development and the appreciation of relationships. However, there are only several songs that appropriate to be learning media based on their moral value. In conclusions, the songs are popular because they are liked and loved. Besides their content of moral messages, the chosen song is seen their compatibility with the psychological development of students, the social lives of students, and the teaching materials needed
