Abstract

This study analyzed of slang terms in Amy Heckerling’s Clueless movie script. The objectives of the study were to analyze kinds of slang, meaning often used by the characters and the reasons of using slang in the movie script. This research uses qualitative method, the researcher uses Eric Partridge theories and other relevant references. The researcher uses the movie’s script that initialized in the movie as the unit of analysis, then the reasearcher also uses the background and setting of the movie to make reasons of the characters why they are using the slang terms. Through this paper, the researcher finds the research findings that there are two kinds of slang that initialized in the movie script, they are public school slang and society slang. Finally, the reasearcher hopes that this research will be useful for future improvement, especially for English Department’s student who want to know deeply regarding slang.
