Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the subtitling strategies and the naturalness levels in Indonesian subtitles of Angry Birds 1 movie (2016). It used a qualitative method. Subtitling strategies were analysed by using Larson's Translation quality assessment. We involved fifteen raters from English education students in Universitas Negeri Semarang. The result of this study showed that there were 452 data, there are nine out of ten strategies proposed by Gottlieb, the work shows that: paraphrase, followed by Expansion, after that transfer, the next is a deletion, imitation transcription, decimation, dislocation, the last strategy is condensation, Based on the result of relation, I concluded that the Indonesian subtitle of Angry Birds 1 movie (2016) belongs to highly natural subtitles.
