Abstract

Hasil observasi diperoleh informasi bahwa proses pembelajaran IPA siswa aktif mengikuti kegiatan belajar mengajar. Namun, pendidikan karakter belum dikembangkan secara maksimal. Berdasarkan informasi tersebut, maka diperlukan adanya metode pembelajaran yang dapat menumbuhkan karakter ilmiah dan pemahaman konsep siswa. Salah satu metode yang digunakan yaitu pembelajaran menggunakan permainan tradisional. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas permainan tradisional pada pembelajaran IPA terhadap karakter ilmiah dan pemahaman konsep siswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan yaitu nonequivalent control group design, karena menggunakan dua perlakuan yang berbeda saat melaksanakan pembelajaran. Pemilihan sampel dilakukan secara acak (cluster random sampling). Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII D (kelas kontrol) dan VII A (kelas eksperimen). Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah metode observasi dan metode tes. Metode observasi diukur menggunakan lembar observasi yang terdiri dari 14 aspek karakter ilmiah. Setiap aspek karakter ilmiah dianalisi secara deskriptif. Metode tes diukur menggunakan soal berupa pilihan ganda berdasarkan tingkatan kognitif taksonomi Bloom. Efektivitas permainan tradisional terhadap karakter ilmiah dilihat dari hasil analisis korelasi biserial (rb=0,886). Hal ini berarti permainan tradisional memiliki pengaruh yang sangat kuat terhadap karakter ilmiah. Sedangkan hasil pemahaman konsep juga dilihat dari analisis korelasi biserial (rb=0,886). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode permainan tradisional berpengaruh positif terhadap karakter ilmiah dan pemahaman konsep siswa. One method used is learning to use the traditional game. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of traditional games in the learning science to scientific character and understanding of the concept of students. The study design used is nonequivalent control group design, because it uses two different treatment when implementing learning. Sample selection is done randomly (cluster random sampling). The sample in this study were students of class VII D (control group) and VII A (experimental group). Data collection method used is the method of observation and test methods. Every aspect of scientific character analyzed descriptively. The test method was measured using multiple-choice questions based on Bloom's taxonomy of cognitive levels. The effectiveness of traditional games against the scientific character derived from the analysis of correlation biserial (rb = 0.886). This means that the traditional game has a very strong influence on the scientific character. While the results of understanding of the concept is also seen from correlation analysis biserial (rb = 0.886). Based on the results of this study concluded that the application of traditional methods of game positive effect on the character and understanding of scientific concepts students.
