Abstract

Rumah Buku Semarang (RBSS) is a community library located in the State University of Semarang. RBSS not only runs textual literary movement but also contextual. This study aims to 1) to know the activities of RBSS in realizing the social movement to improve academic intelligence and social intelligence of students, 2) to know the aspects that influence RBSS in realizing the social movement to improve academic intelligence and social intelligence of the students. This research uses qualitative method. The location of research in RBSS located at Gg Nangka No. 56 Sekaran Kota Semarang. The informants in this study are RBSS conceptor, RBSS manager, RBSS activist, active student being RBSS visitors and inactive students visiting RBSS. Data collection with observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity using source and method triangulation techniques. Data analysis uses interactive data model analysis method consisting of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The author uses the social movement teory of Gramsci, Freire, and Singh and the teory of social capital to analyze social movements conducted by RBSS. The result of the research shows that (1) RBSS community library organizes textual and contextual literary movement, meaning not only library activity but also social studies. (2) In young age stepping on 3 years RBSS able to attract students and society to take part in RBSS movement. RBSS is able to present various activities organized through networking with many groups. RBSS activities are libraries, discussions, book review, film screenings, writing classes, and website usage optimization, ie school movements and agrarian pesantren for the Nahdliyin Front for Natural Resources Sovereignty (FNKSDA). (3) RBSS is able to organize various activities with its own network, but with the ongoing dynamics RBSS also has a resistor aspect both within RBSS and outside RBSS. The most dominant inhibiting aspect of human resources from RBSS itself is either financial or regenerated. Suggestions, RBSS can maintain its existence because it is very useful to see the absence of bookstores and community libraries in the environment Sekaran.
