Abstract

Pembelajaran yang dilakukan di sekolah umumnya masih bersifat konvensional, yaitu hanya menggunakan metode ceramah sehingga membuat siswa cepat bosan. Dalam menjelaskan konsep-konsep fisika yang abstrak diperlukan metode pembelajaran yang tepat. Salah satu metode pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan untuk mengatasi hal tersebut adalah mind mapping. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan pemahaman konsep fisika siswa SMP kelas VII antara yang menggunakan metode mind mapping dengan metode konvensional (ceramah).Desain dalam penelitian ini adalah quasy experiment jenis nonequivalent control group design. Populasi penelitian meliputi peserta didik kelas VII SMP Negeri 34 Semarang tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Kelas VIIC sebagai kelas kontrol menerapkan pembelajaran konvensional dan kelas VIID sebagai kelas eksperimen yang mendapat perlakuan dengan menerapkan pembelajaran menggunakan metode mind mapping. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah metode dokumentasi dan tes. Berdasarkan hasil uji-t dua pihak dengan taraf signifikansi 5% menunjukkan bahwa thitung lebih besar dari t-tabel, artinya terdapat perbedaan nilai rata-rata posttest yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Perbedaan pemahaman konsep juga ditunjukkan dengan uji gain dari masing-masing indikator pemahaman konsep. Secara keseluruhan peningkatan rata-rata pemahaman konsep kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol. Perbedaan gain yang paling besar pada indikator menyatakan ulang sebuah konsep, sedangkan perbedaan gain yang paling kecil pada indikator menyajikan konsep dalam berbagai bentuk representasi matematis. Dari beberapa hasil di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan pemahaman konsep fisika siswa SMP kelas VII antara yang diajar menggunakan metode mind mapping dengan yang diajar menggunakan metode konvensional (ceramah). ----------------------------------------------------- ABSTRACT Learning process which is usually used in school is generally conventional, that just uses lecture method so that it makes students feel bored. In explaining concepts of physics which are abstract needs appropriate methods of learning. One of the methods which can be used to solve this problem is mind mapping. This research aims to find out the difference of concepts of physics understanding of students in SMP grade VII between those who use mind mapping method and conventional (lecture). Design of the research is quasy experiment and nonequivalent control group design type. The population was students of grade VII in SMP Negeri 34 Semarang academic year 2015/2016. Sample was obtained by purposive sampling technique. Class of VIIC as control class used conventional learning and class VIID as experimental class given treatment of mind mapping learning. Data collection methods in this research were documentation and test. Based on multilateral t-test with significance level 5% shows that thitung was bigger than ttabel, means that there was a significant difference of posttest average scores between experimental and control class. The difference of concepts understanding is also shown by gain test from each indicator of concept understanding. Overall the increasing average of concepts understanding in experimental class was higher than control class. The biggest gain difference in the indicator restated a concept while the smallest gain difference in the indicator presented a concept with various mathematical representation. From some results above it can be concluded that there was a difference of physics concept understanding students in SMP grade VII between those who taught by mind mapping method and conventional (lecture).
