Abstract
Chicken feathers could be used to reduce lead in aqueous solution and artificial. Solution of artificial conditioned by adding NaOH which serve to increase the ability ofadsorption of lead on chicken feathers. The purpose of the research is to get the condition of equilibrium and kinetics. Adsorption of lead content using the protein keratin is present in chicken feathers. Manufacture of adsorbents is chicken feathers are washed then drained and chopped until smooth. A smooth chicken feathers soaked with acetone and dried. Adsorbent activated with NaOH and characterized using FTIR. On the adsorption is determined by the concentration of 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 ppm; temperature of 25 C, 28C, 31 C, 34C and contact time, 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes. The amount of lead absorbed can be analyzed using AAS. Selected equilibrium model is Freundlich while the kinetic model chosen is second order.
