Abstract

This final project is analysis about The History of Slavery in the USA Leading to Human Trafficking in Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin. The goals of this study were to tell how slavery in the USA existed in the novel, and to tell the existence of slavery happens nowadays in the USA. The object of this study was a novel entitled Uncle Tom’s Cabin. I used descriptive qualitative analysis which the data compiled in words, phrases, sentences, and dialogues. For the sake of collecting the data, the data needed for this research consisted of the novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin, the another data needed was the data related to the variable from the title, those were data related to human trafficking and more specific was the data related to human trafficking in the United States of America, and for the second variable for the needed data was related to Slavery in the United States of America, and data related to the novel. The result of the study firstly written from the comparison showed in the discussion in chapter four, there were so many indications related to each other, and if the indications were fitted into the indicators of human trafficking compiled and approved by United Nations, then I considered that there were no difference between slavery in the United States and Human Trafficking happens in the United States. Human trafficking in the United States operates like the practice of slavery in the slavery era if I saw from the point of the victims, the treatment, and the modus so that human trafficking was considered to bring the indicators of slavery though the practice of now human trafficking is more sophisticated; however, the indicators are just the same with the practice in slavery.
