Abstract

Character is an attitude-behavior that all students must have. The plurality of community conditions must be addressed appropriately. Students must be educated to have pluralism attitudes in order to live in harmony in community life. The purpose of this research is to analyze coinstruction, pluralism attitudes, and teachers' efforts in instilling pluralism attitudes. This research method uses a qualitative approach with phenomenalogical research. The subjects of this research are junior high school students in grade VII. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis technique used qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that students' understanding of pluralism was good. Students have understood the meaning of pluralism and the attitudes that must be possessed in dealing with pluralism. However, there are two categories of student attitude-behavior related to pluralism, namely pseudo pluralism and true pluralism. Students who already have an attitude of tolerance, mutual respect, mutual trust in others are students who have an attitude of true pluralism which outwardly looks positive and inwardly is also positive will not fade and change. Meanwhile, students who have an attitude of pluralism that is only outwardly positive while inwardly it is actually negative, will not last long and will easily change. The efforts that teachers make to instill pluralism attitudes and behaviors are through learning both exemplary and habituation. The advice given is that schools should maintain the cultivation and acculturation of pluralism behavior in the daily activities of pluralism that develops can run well and can be passed on to the next generation as a positive culture.
