Abstract
This final project tried to examine the use of Kang Guru Magazine "The Joy's Club" as a medium to develop students' reading comprehension skill in junior high school for the eighth grade of SMP N 3 Talang in academic year 20101201 1. The objective of this study was to find out whether Kang Guru Magazine can improve the students' achievement in reading comprehension skill or not. The subject of the study was the eighth grade of junior high school students of SMP N 3 Talang. She chose two classes fiom class VIII A and VIII C for her experiment. The one was as an experimental group and the other was as a control group. The writer used multiple-choice reading test to collect data. The result of the final test showed that there was an improvement of the students' reading comprehension skill after the students were taught by using Kang Guru Magazine "The Joy's Club ". It can be seen fiom the average of post test of the experimental group was higher than the control group. Besides, the result of t-test was 6.33 and the theoretical t-value for the degree of freedom of 44 was 1.66. Therefore, the obtained t-value at significant level of 0.05 was greater than the critical value. This means that the improvement was significant. Based on the result above, Kang Guru Magazine "The Joy's Club" can be interesting and appropriate reading material for the junior high school students. Hence, it may be said that the Kang Guru Magazine "the Joy's Club" will have a better role to improve the students' ability in reading comprehension.
