Abstract
SMP N 22 Semarang is an educational institution that seeks to strengthen students' social intelligence through character education in the learning process in order to create the next generation with good character. Integrating character values in the learning process and applying habituation carried out by educators in social studies subjects is an effort to instill character values in students. The aims of this study were (1) to find out the forms of strengthening students' social intelligence through character education in social studies learning for class VIII students at SMP N 22 Semarang. (2) to describe the obstacles encountered in strengthening students' social intelligence through character education in learning IPS in class VIII students at SMP N 22 Semarang. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. The location of this research was conducted at SMP N 22 Semarang. The subjects in this study were Social Sciences subject educators, vice principals for student affairs, and eighth grade students. The validity test in this study used the source triangulation technique. Data analysis techniques in this study used the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the IPS learning process at SMP N 22 Semarang is carried out in several stages. This stage is a form of pre�implementation of learning or is called planning, implementation and the third stage is the post-planning stage in the form of evaluation. Strengthening students' social intelligence through character education is integrated into social studies learning material. This is known as the habituation carried out by educators in the social studies learning process.. extra-curricular activities support the strengthening of students' social intelligence. factors. The lack of self-confidence and the interaction of students with environmental conditions is an obstacle in the implementation of strengthening social intelligence through character education in social studies learning.
