Abstract

The purpose of this study was to see whether reciprocal teaching techniques might assist students to improve their reading comprehension on analytical exposition texts. This was a quantitative study using a research strategy based on quasi experimental research. In the Academic Year of 2021/2022, the population was the eleventh graders of SMA Negeri 1 Wedung Demak. The samples for this study were XI MIPA 1 as the control group, which was taught using traditional techniques, and XI MIPA 2 as the experimental group, which was taught using the reciprocal teaching technique. Because the experimental group outperformed the control group, the results revealed that the reciprocal teaching technique helps students improve their reading comprehension. The experimental group scored 67.78 on the pre-test, whereas the control group scored 65.90. The experimental group scored 83.96 on the post-test, whereas the control group scored 78.28. The data were examined using a paired sample t-test to see if there were any significant changes between the control and experimental groups. Both groups had a sig (2- tailed) value of 0.000. with 0.05 = 5%. Because the sig (2-tailed) value is less than 0.05, it indicates that the difference between the control and experimental groups was significant. As a result, it can be stated that the reciprocal teaching technique may be utilized to teach reading comprehension as an alternate technique.
