Abstract

Extracurricular programs are an integral element. Extracurricular activities are an extension or reinforcement of activities designed to redirect students' talents or interests toward developing particular skills. Programmed extracurricular activities can teach students valuable social behavior and time management lessons. This study examines the effects of social behavior on extracurricular and non-sports activities and the relationship between extracurricular activities and students' social behavior. This study is a pre-experimental quantitative study. The research design is a one-shot case study. The sample in this study was 156 students in grades VII-IX in 1 Jekulo junior high school. Data collection was carried out through a social behavior test questionnaire sheet. The data was processed using the paired sample T-Test and Correlation Test. The results of this study indicate that (1) there is no significant difference between students who participate in extracurricular sports activities and those who participate in non-sports extracurricular activities on students' social behavior as indicated by a significance value of 0.761 > 0.05. (2) there is a strong correlation between extracurricular activities and students' social behavior, with a coefficient of 0.848. These results indicate that there is a close relationship between extracurricular activities and students' social behavior. Based on this research, it can be concluded that the implementation of extracurricular activities has a significant effect on increasing students' social behavior. It is because all forms of extracurricular activities are cooperative training, which includes peer interaction, training activities, organizational activities, preparation for events, and participation in competitions or competitions that influence the development of positive character traits in students. It is intended that this research will have consequences for enhancing the development of extracurricular activities in schools so that they not only influence the pleasant social conduct of students but also produce exceptional seeds, which are the hope for Indonesia's future accomplishments.
