Abstract

The translation is the communication of meaning that makes one language (source language) to another language (target language). This research analyzed the translation techniques in translating nouns from English to Indonesian in Little Women novel. Both of the Novels have different cultures and it is obvious that the translator makes the reader understandable by using translation techniques. This study employed qualitative research with a content analysis technique. This study starts by finding the problem, collecting data, classifying data, analyzing data, and drawing a conclusion. The frequency result of each technique was: (1) translation by established Equivalent found 83 data, (2) translation by borrowing found 36 data, (3) translation by Transposition found 29 data, (4) translation by Adaptation found 18 data, (5) translation by particularization found 12 data, (6) translation by amplification found 11 data, (7) translation by calque found 6 data, (8) translation by generalization found 6 data, (9) translation by discursive creation found 5 data, (10) translation by description found 3 data, (11) translation by modulation found 3 data, (12) translation by reduction found 2 data, (13) translation by compensation found 2 data.
