Abstract
This study focuses on the tragedy of Willy Loman, the protagonist in Arthur Miller's play "Death of a Salesman". The study aims to reveal the underlying factors that led to Willy's downfall using an actantial model of literary analysis. The actantial model was used to analyze the relationships and interactions between Willy, his family, coworkers, and himself. The study's findings highlight the significance of Willy's illusions of success, financial difficulties, and emotional turmoil in contributing to his tragedy. The results of this study demonstrated the effectiveness of actantial analysis in literary criticism and provided a deeper understanding of the themes and messages presented in the play. Overall, this study shed light on the tragedy of Willy Loman and the complex factors that led to his downfall.
