Abstract
This study aims to determine the creativity of English teachers at SMPN 32 Semarang in increasing interest in learning English at SMPN 32 Semarang and to determine the factors that supports and obstacles English teachers, in increasing interest in learning English at SMPN 32 Semarang. The type in this research is a case study, using a qualitative research approach. Data collection techniques namely observation, and interview. The data validity technique in this study is triangulation. While the data analysis technique used in this study is qualitative data analysis consisting of data collection, data reduction, and conclusion/verification. The results of this study are: 1) It can be said that the teacher's creativity in increasing interest in learning at SMPN 32 is considered good. There are two forms of teacher creativity in increasing interest in learning, teacher's creativity in using learning media, and creativity in using learning methods. Teachers have used learning media and learning methods well. The teacher uses these media and methods with various variations so that they can attract students' attention and can increase maximum learning outcomes. 2) Factors that support teacher creativity in increasing interest in learning include: good and adequate facilities and infrastructure as well as the existence of books in the library to support learning and the teacher's preference for reading books on learning methods so as to increase creativity in teaching. While the factors that obstacle teacher creativity in increasing interest are: Acceptance of using the zoning system can make it difficult for teachers to deal with students because there are some who have not been able to follow the lesson well and the teacher must explain more than once so that students understand, the environment families of students who are underprivileged so that they can influence the learning process, and lack of learning resources that can be utilized by teachers.
