After the data was collected, the data were analyzed using a table of micro and macro skills of reading which Brown (2004) suggests. The study reveals that the reading section presented in the English tryout test published by Diknas Wilayah VIII Magelang in academic year of 2019/2020 has already covered the micro and macro skills of reading. Specifically, four questionshave included the micro skill 6-recognizing a certain meaning that can be expressed in different grammatical forms; eight questions have included the macro skill8 - recognizing the rhetorical forms of written discourse and their meaning for interpretation; three questions have included the macro skills 9 - recognizing the communicative functions of written texts, according to their form and purpose; six questions have already included the macro skill 11 - describing events and ideas, recognizing connections and relationships between events, inferring causes and effects and recognizing relationships such as the main iea, support for the idea, new information, given information, generalizations and examples;four questions have already included the macro skills 12 - distinguishing between literal and implicit meanings. The data shows that 16% of questions in the reading section represented the micro-skills, and 84% represented the macro skills. Thepercentage of the skills represented in the test is the macro skill 8 that reaches 32%, that is,recognising the rhetorical forms of written discourse and its meaning for interpretation; then followed by the macro skill 11, with an average percentage of 24%. Finally, the macro skill 12 is 16%, micro skill 6 is 16%, and macro skill 9 reaches 12%. It shows that the micro skill number 8 is the dominant skill represented in the test.
