Abstract

English has four skill aspects such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Speaking English language is hard when English is a second language, not a native language. In speaking English we must have good skills in pronunciation because pronunciation remains a very challenging thing to learn. Moreover, some students still have lacking the ability to pronounce while uttering English words. This research aims to find out how can 'Go Fish' game improves students' English pronunciation and to find out students' perceptions of 'Go Fish' game, especially in tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Purbalingga. In this research, the researcher used a quantitative experiment method. In collecting the research data, the researcher used tests and questionnaires. This research data analysis technique was assisted by IBM statistical product and service solution (SPSS) computer application version 25. From the data analysis, it was obtained tcount value of 14.283 was more than ttable of 1.74 in group A also obtained a Z-score of 0.000 less than the Z-score 1.96 in group B and the questionnaire result included in the good category with a range of average values 3.41 – 4.20. The results show that 'Go Fish' game treatment given to group A is effective to improve English pronunciation and students gave a positive perception toward 'Go Fish' game.
