Abstract

Simpang Rusa Village in the District of Membalong is the largest village in the District of Membalong. With a large area and a large population, it is one of the advantages in developing the tourism sector. Simpang Rusa Village has also adopted the concept of community-based tourism by forming Pokdarwis. However, in Simpang Rusa Village, the development of tourism has not been well developed and managed. The aims of this study were: (1) to examine the existing potential in Simpang Rusa Village, (2) to analyze Community-Based tourism development strategies in Simpang Rusa Village. This research uses a quantitative research type with a descriptive research design, the research variable in this research is tourism potential and community�based tourism. Data collection methods are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis method used in this study is a mixed method, namely the analysis of tourism potential scoring which refers to which refers to research of Thohar (2015) with parameters for assessing internal potential and external potential to identify tourism potential. The second analysis method used is SWOT analysis to analyze Community-Based tourism development strategies related to internal factors and external factors. The results of the study explained that Simpang Rusa Village has 3 tourism potentials, namely: Jurak Linsum Kawai Waterfall, Air Bakul Rice Fields, and Kampung Baru Mangrove. Based on the scoring results, Jurak Linsum Kawai Waterfall and Kampung Baru Mangrove have a medium tourism potential class with a score of 26 and a score of 23. Meanwhile, Sawah Air Bakul is still in the low potential class with a score of 20. Based on the results of the SWOT analysis, Simpang Rusa village is included in the Quadrant I category or known as a progressive growth strategy (Growth Oriented strategy). Suggestions from the results of this study are the need for further development and management of tourism in Simpang Rusa Village, for example creating an educational activity program regarding the introduction of the tourism potential of Jurak Linsum Kawai Waterfall and Kampung Baru Mangrove and forming a tourism village to further develop the tourism potential of Sawah Air Bakul. In addition, the local Pokdarwis did a good promotion of tourism objects in Simpang Rusa Village by involving the community in every tourism activity, for example making special souvenirs from Simpang Rusa Village which were produced by the local community so that it attracted tourists to visit tourist attractions in Simpang Rusa village
