Abstract

The background of this research is the difficulty in reading comprehension that faced by the students of SMA Negeri 2 Ungaran, Kabupaten Semarang, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia. This situation encourages the need to use appropriate media and teaching methods in the classroom. To respond to this, the researcher conducted research using a quantitative approach using a one-group pre-test and post-test design with the aim of knowing the effectiveness of using the Fishbowl Strategy through Google Classroom in increasing students' reading comprehension in narrative text and knowing students' perceptions regarding the use of Fishbowl Strategy through Google Classroom in improving students' reading comprehension. The research instruments are pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire. Based on the results of the analysis, there was a significant increase in students' reading comprehension skills by using the Fishbowl Strategy through Google Classroom. It was concluded from the score of significant differences in students’ worksheet before and after the treatment application of 0.000. In addition, most students (75%) agreed that the use of the Fishbowl Strategy through Google Classroom helped them improve their students' reading comprehension of narrative text. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the Fishbowl Strategy through Google Classroom effectively improves students' reading comprehension of narrative text.
