Abstract

English videos have a significant impact on students' progress in understanding pronunciation because students tend to imitate when they are interested in a topic. They may be curious about the vocabulary they hear in videos or say themselves and decide to write it down in a book before matching it with the appropriate term in the English dictionary. A lot of content that has appeared lately, such as on Tiktok, Youtube, Instagram, etc., uses English words in their videos. So that other people follow this trend and not just a few of them imitate using English like native speakers. This research was conducted to find out perspectives on the use of English videos on social media in improving pronunciation skills at SMA Negeri 1 Kroya students and compare whether it was true that only using English videos on social media could improve their pronunciation skills. The design of this study is descriptive-qualitative, using an open-ended questionnaire, interviews with students and an English teacher.
