Abstract

Petarukan district is one of the districts included in the ten regions with the highest production in Central Java and is included in the largest production producer in Pemalang Regency, but the welfare of farmers is still low. This study aims to determine the influence of variables of age, education level, production results, production costs, land rental costs, and prices on the variable income of rice farmers. The population of this study amounted to 70 rice farmers in 4 villages out of a total of 19 villages and 1 ward, carried out withcluster random sampling method. The dependent variable (Y) is the income of rice farmers, while the independent variable (X) is age as X1, education level as X2, production output as X3, production costs as X4, land rental costs as X5, and price as X6. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, open questionnaire, and library materials. The data analysis method used is descriptive quantitative analysis method using multiple linear regression model analysis using OLS (Ordinary Least Square) and Classical Assumption Test. The results of this study indicate that partially there are 3 independent variables, namely production results, production costs, and prices have a significant influence onincome of rice farmers in Petarukan District, Pemalang Regency. Meanwhile, there are 3 other variables, namely age, education level, and land rental costs that do not have a significant effect on the income of rice farmers in Petarukan District, Pemalang Regency. Meanwhile, simultaneously the variables of age, education level, production yield, production cost, land rental fee, and price have a positive and significant effect on the income of rice farmers in Petarukan District, Pemalang Regency. This can be known based on the F-statistic value of 30.36997 and value prob. F-count (0.000000) < alpha 5%. R2 value = 0.743088 which means that 74% of the ability of the independent variables used in this model can explain the income variable of rice farmers in Petarukan District, Pemalang Regency. While the remaining 26% is influenced by other variables outside the model used in this study. To increase productivity and production, farmers can plant superior rice seeds, and focus more on providing fertilizers and pesticides to avoid excessive pest attacks.
