Abstract

This research goal was to determine if students who received instruction using a hangman game compared to those who received instruction from a textbook had significantly different levels of vocabulary skill learning. The population of this study is the students in 7th grade at SMP N 1 Padamara during the period of instruction 2021–2022. The 7E group was chosen as the group under study and the 7H group as the control group as a sample. The experimental class was taught with hangman, whereas the control class was taught with a textbook. In the researcher's quasi-experimental study, pre-test and post-test designs were used. The test result was then examined using the t-test formula. In light of the finding’s hypothesis test, students who received teaching using the hangman game had significantly better vocabulary abilities than those who did not. It can be shown using the t-value (2.325), which surpasses the t-table (1.999). Therefore, when utilizing the hangman game to teach vocabulary, in order to get the most out of the podcast and improve the students' vocabulary knowledge, the learning process requires participation from both the teacher and the students.
