Abstract

Interest in becoming a teacher is a person’s interest in the teaching profession which is indicated by more attention, feelings of liking and supported by the competencies possessed. Interest in becoming an economics teacher is a feeling of liking, interest or attention for the teaching profession of economics. As with interest in becoming a teacher, there are several factors that can influence both internal and external factors. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of Perceptions of Teacher Profession, Perceptions of Teacher Welfare and Teacher Proffesional Education on Interest in Teacher Profession with School Field Introduction as Moderating Variable. This study uses a quantitative approach. The population in this study was 350 students of Economics Education, Faculty of Economics, State University of Semarang in the 2018 batches. The sample was selected using the proporsional random sampling method. Based on the population, 187 students were taken as samples. Data collection techniques in this study using a questionnaire via google form. The data analysis technique used descriptive statistical analysis and moderated regression analysis. The results of the descriptive analysis show that perceptions of teacher profession is in the very high category, perceptions of teacher welfare is in the high category, teacher professional education is in the very high category, and school field introduction is in the high category. The results showed that perceptions of teacher profession, Perceptions of teacher welfare and Teacher professional education has a positive and significant effect on interest in teacher profession. But, school field introduction unable to moderate the influence perceptions of teacher profession, perceptions of teacher welfare and teacher professional education on interest in teacher profession. The conclusion of this study is that there are five accepted hypotheses and one rejected hypothesis. One of the hypotheses was rejected because the experience gained by students during the introduction to the field of schooling was not enough to make student assessments of good teacher welfare. The advice given by researchers is to maintain student interest in teacher profession, it would be even better if students have more attention by seeking information related to the latest regulations of the teaching profession
