Abstract
Media is needed by educators in facilitating students to improve literacy and learning motivation. The need for innovation in the delivery of digital technology-based learning materials. The aim of this study is that to describe the influence of digital comic media in improving the information technology literacy skills and learning motivation of fourth grade elementary school students in science subjects regards to alternative energy sources and their changes. This study used the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) model. Furthermore, the research subjects were fourth grade students at Kuranji State Elementary School, Cirebon City. The data collected were the results of validation by media experts, language experts, material experts, pretest posttest, learning motivation questionnaires and student response questionnaires after being taught using digital comic media. Meanwhile, the instruments used were test instruments and learning motivation questionnaires and student response questionnaires on digital comic media. Based on the validation results of digital comic media experts on alternative energy source material and its changes, it is suitable for use in the learning process. Furthermore, this study shows a Pearson product moment correlation coefficient of 0.693. Therefore, the close relationship between digital comics and alternative energy source materials and their changes with information technology literacy skills is a strong relationship. The coefficient of determination of the influence of digital comics on alternative energy source material and its changes to students' information technology literacy skills is 48.0%. The average n-gain value of students' information technology literacy skills due to the use of digital comic media on alternative energy sources and changes is 0.57 with moderate criteria. Meanwhile, students' responses after being taught using digital comic media in grade IV elementary school science subjects obtained an average percentage score of 94.4 with very high criteria. In addition, students give very positive response to the implementation of digital comic media in science learning material on alternative energy sources and its changes in grade IV elementary school.
