Abstract

Translation is very much needed and very helpful for many people who do not know the certain foreign language before. Currently, many translators came from different centuries and different backgrounds that have translated the Holy Qur‟an into English; Even though stated by Pickthall (2005) that the Holy Qur‟an being word of god could not be translated. Therefore, the important thing that have to point out are the similarities as well as the differences between English, Indonesian, and Arabic structures and semantic communication. From those issue this research aims to describe the realization of semantic and communicative translation approach of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences in Sura Al-Kahf which are classification of the translation procedure applied. It found 212 terms categorized as word to word; 166 categorized as word to phrase; 0 categorized as word to clause and sentence; 12 categorized as phrase to word; 218 categorized as phrase to phrase; 0 categorized as phrase to clause and sentence; 6 categorized as clause to word; 10 categorized as clause to phrase; 301 clause to clause; 0 categorized as clause to sentence; 15 categorized as interrogative sentence; 14 categorized as imperative sentence; 20 categorized as exclamatory sentence; 110 categorized as declarative sentence which have verified by the expert of Arabic. It conclude that the translators are quite capable to understood the meaning and the message of the verses in sura Al-kahf. Finally, the realization of the semantic and communicative translation approach in the sura Al-kahf is quite equivalence in words, phrase, clauses, and sentences.
