Abstract

This study is about technology integration analysis into the English lesson plans. The Ministry of Education and Culture regulation requires strengthening students’ characters involving critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills. In learning English, it is expected that 21st -century skills are considered in learning outcomes. Besides, COVID-19 Pandemic has already spread around the world which caused the teaching-learning process turns into online-based learning. Therefore, the learning process needed technology to conduct online learning. Thus, Teachers need to design lesson plans that integrate technology into the learning process so the 21st -century skills will be achieved. As the result, lesson plans are essential to determine the success of a lesson. Based on this issue, this study aims to analyze teachers’ technology integration into English lesson plans, to find out what technology will be used to teach, and to know how the technology will promote students’ activity in 21st -century skills. This present study is a content analysis that employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The technology types by Ng (2015), and the indicators of 21st -century skills by Trilling and Fadel (2009) are employed the analyze data. There are three lesson plans for grade X Compulsory, four lesson plans for grade X Cross-interest, four lesson plans for grade XI Compulsory, and four lesson plans for grade XII Cross-interest. Checklist documentation is employed to collect the data. This study reveals that the analysis of technology integration into the English lesson plans for grade X compulsory is highlighted Whatsapp and Quipper to support online learning. In contrast, in the English lesson plans for grades X Cross-interest, XI Compulsory, and XII Cross-interest mostly utilized Google Meets and Zoom to conduct face-to-face online learning that followed by Quipper and Whatsapp to support other learning activities. Furthermore, the use of Whatsapp indicates that it enables promote critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity skill in 21st - century skills as well as the integration of Google Meets and Zoom. In comparison, the use of Quipper in online learning is indicated can stimulate creativity, communication, and critical thinking skills based on the indicators by Trilling & Fadel (2009).
