Abstract

The limitations of learning resources make some students have difficulty when studying biology material. This problem is also experienced by students and teachers in one of the public high schools in Semarang. The learning resources used to study the basic competence of the digestive system and the excretory system with the subject of disorders in the system are still too minimal and have not been able to present a discussion regarding the reasons why these disorders can occur so that additional teaching materials are still needed that contain more in-depth information about the causes of the disorder on the digestive and excretory systems. Laboratory research on levels of toxic substances in the body that has been done previously has the potential to be developed into supporting teaching materials. The teaching materials developed utilize interactive digital flipbook technology based on laboratory research to support the achievement of KD of the digestive system and the excretory system more contextually. This study aims to describe the characteristics of an interactive flipbook teaching supplement based on laboratory research and to analyze its feasibility level. This study uses a modified research and development method from Sugiyono (2015). The design validation phase involved material experts and media experts in assessing the feasibility of the material and design of the laboratory research-based interactive flipbook teaching supplement. The trial phase involved 37 subjects (36 small group trial students and 1 biology teacher). Assessment of the feasibility teaching supplements using a feasibility questionnaire and teacher and student response questionnaires which were analyzed using descriptive analysis assisted by Microsoft Office Excel 2016. The results showed that the interactive flipbook teaching supplement, which contains laboratory research results, is easy to use, and is exciting, and can help understand the material. The interactive flipbook teaching supplement based on laboratory research was considered very feasible by material expert validators at 88.86% and media expert validators at 93.75%. Based on the responses of students and teachers, teaching supplements are considered exciting and suitable for use, with percentages of 86.39% and 96.25%, respectively. It shows that the laboratory research-based interactive flipbook teaching supplement produced in this study is considered to meet the characteristics of a research-based interactive teaching supplement and is suitable to be used to support the fulfillment of KD material on the digestive system and excretory system.
