Abstract

The era of the industrial revolution 4.0 is an era that views information technology as a basic necessity in human life, including in the field of education. Biology teachers are expected to have the skills to utilize information technology as a learning media. One of the social media that can be used as learning media is Instagram. Instagram has interesting features that can stimulate student creativity. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of using Instagram as a learning media on improving student creativity and learning outcomes. This research is a quasi-experiment by looking at the comparison of creativity and learning outcomes of experimental classes using the Instagram application with control classes using powerpoint media. The learning model used is Discovery Learning with the help of Instagram application as a learning media. The results of this study showed a percentage increase in student creativity in the good category. Student learning outcomes cannot be said to be complete because it has not reached 75% completeness, but based on the n-gain test it is in the medium category. From the hypothesis test, t_hitung is greater than t_table. The results of this analysis show that the use of Instagram media as a learning media affects student creativity and learning outcomes. The results of the student response questionnaire to the use of Instagram as a learning media showed 79.19% with a good category. The conclusion of this study is that the use of Instagram media as a learning media can increase student creativity and learning outcomes in the experimental class.
