Abstract
This study aims to describe students' scientific literacy profile on the global warming phenomenon that occurs in Semarang. This research conducted at SMP Negeri 10 Semarang as a school which is located close to one of the sources of global warming and SMP Negeri 21 Semarang as a school that is far from the phenomenon. The method used is a mixed-method sequential explanatory design by using test instruments, questionnaires and interviews. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted using descriptive-quantitative. Then, the conclusions were drawn. Based on the analysis, it is known that the profile or description of students' scientific literacy on the global warming phenomenon between the nearest school and a further one has a difference. It is shown that the mean score of science literacy of students in the nearest schools and a further one is 44.41% and 61.91%, respectively, which are considered as very low and sufficient criteria. Therefore, it indicates that the school’s location does not affect student literacy in the global warming phenomenon.
