Abstract

ZnO thin film has been deposited on ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) glass substrate by sol-gel spin-coating method. Zinc acetate is used as a precursor, isopropanol as a solvent and ethanolamine as a stabilizer. The annealing treatment after deposition was accomplish with variations in temperature of 300, 400 and 500 ̊C for 1 hour in air to study the effects of annealing on optical properties. Characterization of optical properties including, transmittance, absobalance and optical band gap of the ZnO thin film was arrange using UV- Vis Spectroscopy. ZnO thin film constructed has a transmittance above 80% in visible light. In addition, maximum absorbance is obtained at low wavelengths in the range of 300-390 nm for all thin filmls of ZnO annealed at different temperatures. The rise in annealing temperature of the ZnO thin film lead to an increase in the width of the optical band gap, ie from 3.0 eV to 3.3 eV. The optical properties of ZnO films deposited by the sol-gel spin-coating method are strongly influenced by subsequent annealing treatment.
