Abstract

There are still many students who are less active during the learning carried out at their respective homes. This is the cause of the lack of social interaction between students and teachers which results in low learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the relationship between student and teacher social interaction on social studies learning outcomes for class IX at SMP Negeri 8 Semarang. This research is a quantitative research with correlation method. The population in this study amounted to 264 grade IX students. The sampling technique used is a quota sample, and the sample taken is 30% of the total population, which is 64 students. Data collection techniques used questionnaires, observations and documentation data. Validity test was calculated using the Product Moment formula and reliability was tested using the Alpha formula with the help of SPSS 23. The data analysis technique used was descriptive statistical analysis. Hypothesis testing uses correlation analysis with the Pearson SPSS 23 Product Moment formula. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between students' social interactions and learning outcomes, which was indicated by the rcount value of 0.423, while the rtable with the number of N=64 (60) at the 5% error level was 0.254, so that rcount>rtable (0.423>0.254 ). From exposure to Pearson's Product Moment correlation test, it can be concluded that social interaction on learning outcomes has a correlation with the degree of relationship, namely the correlation is moderate with a positive form of relationship. This means that the higher the social interaction of students, the higher the learning outcomes.
