Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the level of cyber bullying, emotional regulation, and the effect of cyber bullying on social media and bystanders on the emotional regulation of adolescents in Pemalang Regency. The population taken in this study were junior high school students in Pemalang Regency. Based on the data that the researchers got, the total population in this study amounted to 1,815 students. Then, the determination of the sample using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. The sample used was 326 students based on the proportion of students in each batch. The data was taken by distributing the scale to the respondents using a psychological scale, in the form of a cyber bullying scale, an emotion regulation scale, and a bystander scale with each reliability being 0.960, 0.772, 0.677. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results showed (1) there was a positive and significant influence between cyber bullying on the emotional regulation of adolescents in Pemalang Regency, (2) there was no significant effect between bystanders on the emotional regulation of adolescents in Pemalang Regency, (3) There was a significant effect from cyber bullying on social media and bystanders to the emotional regulation of teenagers in Pemalang Regency. This is because students who experience cyberbullying, especially through social media, either directly or indirectly, will tend to control their emotions.
