Abstract
Speaking is a second language activity after listening. Based on the sound that is heard, humans learn to pronounce and eventually become skilled at speaking. This study aims to determine the use of the TikTok application to improve students' speaking ability. The researcher used a quasi-experimental research design. This study involved two eleventh grade classes, 32 students in the experimental class and 32 students in the control class. Researchers conducted a pre-test, treatment using the TikTok application and post-test for the experimental class. Meanwhile, the researchers conducted a before and after test on the control group without using the TikTok application as a treatment. In this study, researcher used the duet conversation feature using the TikTok application. The students are asked to make a video of a conversation with their partner. They can edit the video according to their creativity, such asadding audio, using filters, adding text, etc. The results showed that the distribution frequency in the experimental class pre-test was 4 (13%) students in the excellent category. Meanwhile, in the control class, 8 (25%) students were in the excellent category. The post-test distribution frequency of the experimental class after treatment increased significantly to 15 (44%). Meanwhile, the distribution frequency of the control class post-test was 12 (38%) students in the excellent category. The results of the independent sample ttest using SPSS version 25 showed that Sig was 0.000 < 0.05. Also, the t-count is 4.522 and the t-table is 2.042. From this it can be concluded that t-count > t-table. In other words, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and alternative Hypotheses for Significant Differences between the students speaking abilityimprovement on the students who are taught using the TikTok application and thosewho are taught without using the TikTok application was accepted. Based on theresults, it can be concluded that there are significant differences in the pretest andpost-test scores for the speaking assessment of the students being taught TikTok application achieve more than those taught without using TikTok application. The questionnaire results show that students have positive perceptions about TikTok application to improve students' speaking ability. It appears in questionnaire shows that most students agree that TikTok application can Help them to improve their speaking abilit
