Abstract

Technology plays a very important role and has infiltrated all aspects of people's lives, especially for educational purposes. YouTube video is regarded as one online medium to learn English. The researcher tries to shed light on the importance of using YouTube as an effective tool in improving the pronunciation skills of the students. The purposes of this study were to find out the result of students achievement taught with ou ube videos and to find out whether or not ou ube “ as aily” is an effective media in improving pronunciation skill.. This research used a quantitative-experimental method with pre-test and post-test experimental group design. The population of this study was the students in the second semester who joined the English club in Durrotu Aswaja Islamic Boarding School Gunungpati. Sixty students were divided to be two classes; one as a control group and the other one as an experimental group. The Experimental group received treatments using YouTube. Meanwhile, the Control group received treatment using a conventional method. The findings of this study showed that in a pre-test, the experimental group's mean score was 45.9. Meanwhile, the control group's mean score was 43.33. After receiving the treatments, the experimental group's mean score increased to 83.63, while the control group's mean score increased to 70.3. Furthermore, t-test statistical findings using SPPS 25th version showed that the tvalue (12.188) > ttable (2,002), implying that there was a significant difference in the students' pronunciation mastery taught using YouTube videos and who were not.
